Systems Specialist

About the role
Under the direct supervision of the Systems Support Manager, responsible for the support of all information system resources including but not limited to computers, networks, telephones, cell phones, and peripherals. As directed by the Systems Support Manager, support the implementation of information systems and telecommunication technologies. Tasks include end user support, license tracking, documentation, PC maintenance and repair, upgrades and configurations.

What you'll do

  • Partners with business leaders to deliver services that support company objectives and that are consistent with Winning Together values.

  • Assist staff with the installation, configuration, upgrade, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software.
  • Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with end user hardware and software.
  • Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers and administrative systems.
  • Entry, update and follow up in IT support request/management system.
  • Administer hardware images as requested by Systems Support Manager.
  • Prep equipment as instructed by Systems Support Manager.
  • Provide on-going support to all users of the information and telecommunication systems.
  • Responsible for supporting the integrity of the computer working environment, all computer equipment and applications, cellular and telecommunications systems.
  • Provide basic training/support in accessing the network and use of various software applications.
  • Aid Systems Support Manager in maintaining documentation for all information system processes.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining any information systems related components as directed by Systems Support Manager.
  • Perform End of Year backups as directed by Systems Support Manager.
  • Support new computer hardware and software, and continued support of the existing hardware and software throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as directed by Systems Support Manager.
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Park District’s safety program.
  • Work as a Team Player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments.

What you have

  • Associates degree in related field with one to two years of full-time computer experience supporting Windows 7 and Microsoft Office products on desktop/laptop PCs or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Microsoft certification a plus
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 7 and Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software and printer related issues.
  • Experience replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PCs.
  • Experience installing software, patches, and updates on desktops and laptops.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic network issues.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of MAC computers and Windows 2003/2008 a plus.

  • Stooping: to retrieve files at lower levels; access IT equipment at lower levels.
  • Crouching: to retrieve files at lower levels; access IT equipment at lower levels.
  • Seeing: to obtain information from written materials.
  • Carrying: to maintain and relocate IT equipment.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the usual and customary methods of performing the job functions, including: a variety of standing, sitting, and walking throughout the day; lifting of up to 50 pounds.

 

Health Care customer requirements
Before working in one of our health care customer facilities it is a requirement to show proof of immunization which is required by the Public Hospitals Act.
In a hospital setting, workers are at potential risk of acquiring a communicable disease. In addition, OMA/OHA protocols under Regulation 965 of the Public Hospitals Act require that all persons carrying out work activities on hospital premises be immune to measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chickenpox). They also require that individuals be free from active tuberculosis and participate in baseline skin testing. It is also required to have information recorded regarding pertussis vaccination status. Annual influenza vaccination is strongly recommended. For the purposes of the SickKids Staff Immunization & Surveillance Policy, the term "Staff" refers to all persons carrying out work activities within the hospital and includes all employees, physicians, dentists, scientists, volunteers, students, independent contract workers and observers. 

 

All new hires will be provided a Healthcare Provider Certification form to be completed and submitted to HR prior to commencing any work/placement. Failure to do so will make the individual ineligible to work or within the premises.
