Position Overview
Due to the continued growth and success across our software business, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Spend Optimization Specialist. The successful applicant will be responsible for responding to software pricing requests, managing software renewals, identifying spend optimization opportunities and driving cost savings. The successful individual will have a proven track record in software procurement or sales, preferably with experience in software portfolio, including large vendors such as Cisco, VMWare, Microsoft, Red Hat, Citrix, Oracle, IBM etc. The candidate will be responsible for working with the account team to manage Computacenter’s incumbent opportunities for their aligned vendor, while capturing opportunities to grow our share across other vendors. This role is instrumental to the success of the software contracts that Computacenter delivers to our customers. You will need to have a good understanding of software licensing and be comfortable with procurement methodology and approaching & leading software negotiations with Software Vendors and Distribution partners. A key focus for the role is software optimization to identify areas where our customers can save money when procuring software. Excellent customer services skills are also required, along with relationship management with key partners and you will be expected to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction. Also required is the ability to work effectively with other business areas, in order to understand and address issues. A high level of attention to detail and diligence is paramount in order to ensure accurate pricing and detail is applied to software quotes and pricing options. The role will suit an individual who wants to improve their overall skills in customer engagement, problem solving and new sales, someone who can manage a high workload and retain the levels of consistency, accuracy and professionalism while working under pressure. Individuals will be trained and supported but would also be expected to be self-motivated and use their own initiative in order to progress and succeed in this demanding role.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Customer aligned you will be responsible for:
- Responding to pricing requests and organizing quotes from software suppliers
- Optimizing and Benchmarking with a view to drive savings
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with both software vendors and distributors
- Driving negotiations with software vendors and distributors
- Building cost models to identify savings opportunities
- Identify proactively savings strategy across customer spend
- Provide end-to-end ownership on sales opportunities working closely with both sales and our distribution partners
- Research to find all relevant information required to optimize software opportunities and deliver cost savings back to customer
- Track savings and value that can be reported and measured
- Communicates in a timely and effective manner via emails, reports and reminders
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value
- Supports requests from customers, partners, sales, and other operational team members
- Should be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while completing work within allocated timeframes
- Committed to applying best practices in everyday work
- Collaborates with internal and external partners to meet procurement objectives
- Manage Key Customer Procurement Relationships
- Integrate SOS activities with wider CC virtual team and lifecycle services.
Education & Experience Required
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication skills written & verbal
- 2-5 years’ experience in software industry
