Staff Accountant
About the role
The Staff Accountant position requires skills in financial accounting, reporting, audit, and compliance. This position also requires a strong accounting aptitude, ability to work independently on varied assignments, well developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to problem solve in a diverse environment of change.
What you have
- Assists with month-end close processes.
- Prepares accrual and adjusting journal entries (JE) as required based on financial review.
- Prepares account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Prepares and analyzes supporting schedules for reconciliations.
- Prepares monthly departmental reporting vs. budget for select functional areas.
- Provides back-up support for JE approval submitted by Treasury and other functional areas as needed.
- Maintenance of Fixed Assets in BNA (FA software) and back-up for Senior Accountant, as required.
- Provides support to the Accounting Manager, General as needed.
- Assists with internal and external reporting, as required.
- Responds to general accounting inquiries, as requested. (e.g., year-end audit requests)
- Maintains accounting department process documentation in areas of responsibility.
- Assists in developing best practice process flows in defined area of responsibility.
- Prepares ad hoc reports and analysis, as requested by management.(e.g., Corporate Controller and CFO)
- Partners with business leaders to deliver services that support company objectives and that are consistent with Winning Together values.

What you have
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2-5 years related business experience in a medium to large company.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage workload and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, highly proficient in Excel.(e.g., Excel formulas, V-lookups, pivot tables)
- Solid critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional self-starter, able to work independently, and has strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with others.
- Detail oriented and resourceful.
- Knowledge of Infor / Syteline preferred.
- Prior knowledge of NetSuite and Salesforce is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and personal judgment.
