GIS Engagement Lead

About the role
As the GIS Engagement Lead, you will oversee all engagements from your relevant business area stakeholder group and drive cohesive delivery across all functional areas of the IT department. The key goal of this role is to make sure that engagement is completely seamless, aligned with strategic goals at a Computacenter level and that new incoming requirements are appropriately shaped, appropriately justified, initiated, and delivered.  Overall, the GIS Engagement Lead plays a vital role in aligning IT and the business, ensuring that technology delivery and investments are aligned with organizational objectives and deliver tangible value to the enterprise.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Partners with business leaders to deliver services that support company objectives and that are consistent with Winning Together values.
  • Develop trusted relationships with key departmental stakeholders, facilitate communication between members of the IT team and business stakeholders, and articulate the value of IT services and capabilities demonstrating how technology can drive innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
  • Drive alignment and delivery across the IT department, responding to senior escalations, and build cohesive relationships across all functional areas of the IT department constantly driving an improvement mindset and outcome to mature all aspects of IT and Cybersecurity delivery and change.
  •  Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their operational requirements and challenges and negotiate and maintain ongoing multi-year technology initiative roadmap that supports the business strategy and goals. Drive the initiation of programs and projects, demonstrate strong commercial awareness while actively maintaining the roadmap making sure this is relevant for forward project initiation planning, resource allocation, budget, and the broader initiative landscape.
  • Oversee all engagements for the designated business area making sure that stakeholders are communicated with and managed in a consistent way:
    • Troubleshoot issues that arise between IS and business functions, finding solutions that satisfy both technical and operational requirements
    • Collaborate with departments to identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement through technology, and championing IT initiatives that support business growth and transformation
    • Monitor and measure the performance of IT services and solutions, and solicit feedback from business stakeholders to continuously improve service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Lead and coach individuals across the matrix model, across all functional areas of the IT department, making sure there is clear understanding and relation to the goals, objectives, pressure points, and challenges; drive a culture of continual improvement across the IT department, tangibly contributing to the maturity of the operating model and the development of the leadership team.

What you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field; Master’s degree in information technology, or a technology related discipline preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in technology leadership   
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Deep understanding of the GIS operating model, and how this operates – particularly from a matrix management perspective.
  • Frameworks and processes (ITIL, SAFe, DevSecOps, etc.).
  • Ability to work and thrive in a matrix organizational model – influencing individuals at all levels, and from all regional areas.
  • Able to manage senior internal / external escalations calmly and efficiently with a focus on how we improve and avoid issues in the future.
  • Capable of being able to understand a technical stakeholder, assess, and translate into business language
  • Strong commercial acumen, and the ability to lead the development of business / investment cases
  • Strong strategic, innovation and operational capabilities
  • P&L experience including external resources, licensing, software, hardware, and invoicing.
  • Experience, through strategic partnering, building creditability and relationships with senior stakeholders, taking the technical knowledge, assessing, and translating into business language across a large, global, and interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience leading, developing, and supporting a team of employees.
