Job Spec – Solution Architect - ServiceNow

The Solution Architect is experienced in establishing technology roadmaps and solution designs for customers who need assistance with ServiceNow products, integrations, and other complementary technologies to overcome business problems and fulfil high-level requirements and, can engage all levels of senior stakeholder.


The role is customer facing, and provides pre-sales support, and post-sales oversight for large and/or strategic opportunities where customers need to establish their own strategic direction for projects and initiatives, which could relate to any of the following: IT Service Management, IT Operations Management, IT Business Management, Security Operations, Governance, Risk and Compliance, Customer Service Management, HR Service Delivery, or bespoke Enterprise Service Management solutions for areas of the business beyond IT.


Whilst the ServiceNow platform is central to their expertise, Solution Architects are the ultimate authority for designing and solutioning on large and/or complex projects where ServiceNow needs to integrate with new or legacy technologies, or where our solutions require complementary technology to meet the customer’s needs.


The role reports to the Head of Solution Architecture.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Work with large, strategic, customers to analyse business needs, provide input to the business case, and establish a programme to deliver against identified business objectives and business problems, alongside those already identified as the customers key objectives 
  • Provide pre-sales support to customers who want to establish a service management roadmap, and advise on the solutions and technologies required to achieve business objectives and/or address business problems 
  • Liaise with customer stakeholders and Computacenter’s project team to understand design needs, constraints and options, on large and complex projects, or in complex managed service provider environments
  • Highlight any design or implementation issues or risks to the Computacenter project team on the largest and most complex projects
  • Develop in-depth ITIL, ServiceNow, technology and industry expertise in order to advise customers and consultants on new trends and changes within the industry
  • Lead knowledge sharing activities, and be a regular contributor to team meeting
  • Provide advice as required to Solution Consulting and Computacenter bid teams
  • Participate in knowledge sharing activities for team meetings and internal webinars

 

Skills Required


Essential:

  • Solid experience as a trusted advisor to customers for ServiceNow road-mapping and design, and translating business problems into technology solutions
  • At least 5 years of experience in delivering Service Management projects in a customer-facing context, with exposure to the deployment of technology in support of at least some of the following solution areas: cloud management solutions, orchestration solutions, discovery solutions, security operations, governance/risk/compliance, HR, Customer Service Management, IT Operations, reporting & analytics, project & portfolio management, configuration management, asset management, financial management, vendor management, SIAM, integrations
  • Track record of carrying out pre-sales activities with customers, focussing on ServiceNow as the core solution
  • Ability to fulfil pre-sales engagements relating to any product area of ServiceNow and related complementary/integrated technologies
  • Solid understanding of all areas of the ServiceNow platform functionality
  • Solid understanding of the ServiceNow database structure
  • Solid understanding of ServiceNow developer APIs, development tools and techniques
  • A good understanding of some of the following: Javascript, SOAP/REST web services, XML, JSON, Angular.js, HTML, CSS, Twitter Bootstrap, Jelly scripting
  • ITIL Foundation Accreditation, and solid knowledge of ITIL® 
  • A good understanding of relational database theory 
  • Software Development Lifecycle experience, and experience on Agile projects
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication 
  • Open and friendly personality
  • Outgoing and customer facing 
  • Self-managing and capable of working alone or as part of a team 
  • Capable of working with customers and managing their expectations
  • Natural ambassador for the company


Advantageous:

  • Experience of the implementation of other IT Service Management toolsets and complementary technologies
