Technical Architect

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Technical Architect to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding Workplace Practice within Computacenter, with a strong focus on desktop and deployment technologies. The role will involve extensive travel throughout the UK.

 

The Technical Architect will deliver both pre and post sales technical consultancy to our customers, leading teams of consultants in delivery/implementation engagements. This includes the design, implementation and configuration of complex, large scale multi-platform based solutions. In addition, the Technical Architect will provide pre-sales support to internal and external customers in defining complex technical solutions.

As a senior team member, the Technical Architect has responsibility for providing technical leadership to the team and providing guidance to internal and external customers in defining complex technical strategies with leading edge technologies.

As a predominately client facing role you need proven skills in a customer facing position, designing and implementing Microsoft, Apple, Google and VMWare desktop, virtualisation and deployment technologies to corporate or public sector organisations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the creation of technical pre-sales responses and own the creation of costs
  • Create business cases
  • Negotiating skills
  • Host customer opportunity / strategy meetings, including presenting solutions from a commercial and business perspective
  • Provide technical governance of in-flight projects
  • Own the remediation of inflight bids and projects where issues exist
  • Quality assure deliverables produced by team members to ensure consistency and accuracy within a single technology solution.
  • Identify other Computacenter service and sales opportunities
  • Ability to lead the design and implementation of complex technical solutions
  • Experience in supporting infrastructure technologies
  • Excellent communication and consultancy skills both written and oral
  • Ability to support sensitive customer issues at a senior level
  • Undertake individual consultancy assignments, analysing customer requirements, gathering and analysing data, recommending solutions
  • Ensure consultancy assignments are undertaken consistently and with quality, using Prince2  and Agile methodologies
  • Highlight all technical risks ensuring that Computacenter's exposure to commercial loss can be minimised
  • Keep up to date with current and future market developments, competitors, technologies, products and strategies
  • Keep certificates up to date and gain additional certificates determined by the business’s priorities
  • Produce / update all assignment documentation
  • Identify other Computacenter service and sales opportunities
  • Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders across Computacenter.
  • Build and enhance relationships with peers and Computacenter's sales force (Account Managers, Client Directors, Sales Specialists)
  • Develop relationships with partners and vendors to enhance opportunities and capabilities for the practice

 

Key Skills

  • Leadership of solution design and costing
  • Experience of Architecture methodologies e.g. TOGAF
  • Detailed product knowledge of the following technologies;
    • Desktop deployment experience – enterprise deployments of Windows
    • Desktop configuration experience (ADK, MDT, creation of Task Sequences,)
    • Deployment Toolset(s) – System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune
    • Desktop productivity suite configuration and deployment
    • Desktop security products knowledge – BitLocker and Microsoft Defender Suite
    • Directory and Network Services – creation of group policy objects for desktop operating systems
    • Scripting – PowerShell / VBScript
    • Microsoft Desktop Optimisation Pack (MDOP) – App-V / MBAM
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
  • Knowledge of at least 5 of the desired skills
