Senior Project Manager – Agile Presales Specialist

 

Life on the team
As a Senior Project Manager (SPM) with demonstratable presales experience, in Computacenter’s UK Projects Practice, you will be responsible for representing Projects Practice in responding to opportunities for Computacenter Professional Services, to help our customers change the world.  
You’ll consult with our presales teams, internal business partners, external partners and customers, to define Computacenter’s resource and engagement model using Agile delivery methods, as well as be being ready to lead or augment Computacenter and customer teams in dynamic, challenging environments.

 

What you’ll do
•    Lead the definition of Computacenter’s engagement model and strategy, for delivery of projects and programmes, using Agile methods, in bid responses
•    Act as consultative expert to Computacenter presales teams, leading and supporting Computacenter responses opportunities
•    Lead the creation and definition of service offerings, in the Agile delivery space, with a target of growth and capability development
•    Be part of a team, developing best practice collateral in both the presales and delivery space, ensuring consistency of approach, methods, and artifacts
•    Help to define roles and responsibilities of Computacenter engagement models, according to customer demand, and align resources to roles in-line with Computacenter’s organisational structure 
•    Be a key part of the cross-country development of capability and global alignment, in order that Computacenter can underpin its aspiration of consultative leadership and consistently deliver to its customers across geographic boundaries 
•    Be responsible for delivering complex and/or high-risk, end-to-end projects, multiple projects simultaneously or significant work-streams on larger projects and programmes. These may be standalone or delivered within a Project Management Office (PMO) 
•    You will lead the engagement, be responsible for the business outcome and for the overall success of the change activity and will assure and govern the programme/assignment to ensure it meets Computacenter’s and the Customer’s requirements and needs 
•    Stay relevant with the sales pipeline enabling the Practice to effectively manage capacity and demand (including skills) against the demand curve 
•    Industrialise and continuously improve presales processes and collateral allowing us to reduce our presales costs whilst improving turnaround times, quality and ultimately win rates

 

What you are responsible for: 
Your overall responsibility is to underpin growth and capability and you’ll do this in the following areas: 
Bid response, you will: 
•    Collaborate with the customer and opportunity owner to understand the business case and requirements
•    Attend customer meetings to present the overall solution, alongside the value, benefits, and capabilities of project management
•    Position additional professional services and capabilities where appropriate
•    Understand the evaluation criteria and competitor landscape 
•    Agree and manage the pricing strategy with the opportunity owner (the right price for the stage of the bid)
•    Contribute to the commercial construct decision for the final engagement.
•    Design / develop a compliant solution
•    Respond to bid questions focusing on quality
•    Support the opportunity owner and Practice Lead through assurance and the group opportunity governance process
•    Create compliant cost models, underpinned by credible and robust delivery and operating methods, and represent these in assurance forums. 
•    Lead writing of SoWs and assurance for approval
•    Complete robust handover of solutions to delivery teams 

 

Capacity & Demand management, you will:
•    Understand the sales pipeline
•    Forecast, plan and effectively manage the presales demand
•    Forecast the demand and skill sets for delivery against the pipeline 

 

Develop capabilities and implement new initiatives:
•    Work with the solution development organisation, sales teams & Practice Leads to shape service offerings and ready to sell and ready to deliver capabilities
•    Work proactively with sales teams to help generate demand and position the capabilities of project management and PMO’s
•    Develop repeatable and reusable collateral and processes

 

What you’ll need
•    Demonstratable experience of working as an presales specialist
•    Have worked in Agile delivery teams using a variety of methods
•    Been part of large Agile transformations
•    Create competitive solutions in a presales environment and present the value to our customers in a compelling way with a plan to win mindset
•    Excellent contract creation and negotiation skills and a high degree of understanding of commercial levers
•    Familiarity with the latest technologies and the ability to articulate the benefits in line with Computacenter’s propositions
•    Trained in project management methodology, for example Prince2, Agile Techniques.
•    A demonstrable track record of delivering complex, high-risk assignments/multiple successful outcomes.
•    Demonstrable leadership skills and personal gravitas
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships
•    Able to apply a variety of influencing skills to enable the required outcomes for your stakeholders, to enable positive assignment outcomes
•    Ability to apply a variety of approaches including Emotional Intelligence with flexibility, to adapt personal style and approach to meet specific customer needs and to resolve conflicts
•    Understand and be able to articulate the wider context of the assignment you are leading
•    Ability to articulate the value of project management to internal and external customers
•    Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
