European Data Protection Officer

We are recruiting for a fantastic opportunity as a European Data Protection Officer to support the Computacenter Group Data Protection Officer. This is the perfect opportunity for an ambitious individual with experience of data protection compliance to take on a challenging and interesting role.


Location: This role will be primarily focused on supporting the UK, Netherlands, Belgian and Swiss Computacenter businesses so applicants from both the UK and other countries are welcome.


Role Responsibility
In your new job as a European Data Protection Officer you will utilise your experience of data protection to provide advice and guidance to the business in response to a wide range of data protection compliance requirements. The responsibilities of the role include:


•    Update and create data protection documentation;
•    Support the business processes for ensuring the rights of data subjects;
•    Completing records of processing and data protection impact assessments;
•    Supporting the response to security incidents involving personal data and delivering specific data protection projects across the Group of companies including staff training;
•    Ensures that Computacenter compliantly transfers data across borders and in line with the latest law and guidance and has a deep familiarity with the regulatory requirements arising from Schrems II and the new Standard Contractual Clauses;
•    Proactively identify improvements in our data protection strategy and processes; and
•    Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders at all business levels from different countries including in-country senior management.

 

The Ideal Candidate
•    Demonstrated leadership skills in achieving stated objectives involving a diverse set of stakeholders and managing varied projects;
•    Experience in the design, implementation and management of controls relating to data protection legislation;
•    Values outputs over inputs and can take a pragmatic view of data protection compliance including providing efficient and effective solutions to support the Computacenter data protection strategy;
•    Excellent understanding of data protection and data protections laws / regulations across jurisdictions;
•    Extensive experience in oversight of compliance and data protection controls in a large UK business with international operations;
•    Able to work autonomously and with a minimum of direct supervision but understand when to escalate issues to senior management;
•    Have excellent organisation, planning and time management skills and take a deep personal responsibility for their work and its quality;
•    The ability to build and maintain business relationships at a senior level (e.g. in-country management);
•    Resilient, highly motivated and will do what it takes to get the job done;
•    Clear ability to look and plan ahead;
•    Proficient in managing diverse views and developing a consensus around standards;
•    Demonstrated ability to independently manage and prioritise a busy and diverse workload with a range of deliverables for a variety of stakeholders;
•    Coordinate conduct and monitor data privacy audits;
•    Ideally legally qualified or with CIPP/E or CIPM or equivalent qualifications; and
•    Ideally business-level English and at least one other major European language (preferably French, German, Dutch or Flemish)
