Software Development Graduate Programme - Networks

Job Introduction 

 

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a recent Graduate to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding Consultancy Practice within Computacenter. The ideal candidate is likely to have recently graduated in a subject that is directly relevant to the IT Industry and software development specifically. The candidate will have some relevant work experience that may have come from an industrial placement.  

 

Although specific experience is not expected, the candidate will be aligned to the growing Networking Team with a range of networking capabilities that is well established within the wider Consultancy Practice. The candidate will be given structured training to deliver the following:  

 

  • Help design and implement functional LAN, WLAN and WAN networks 
  • Configure and manage essential network devices 
  • Deploy and configure switches, routers and firewalls to deliver connectivity solutions to a wide variety of customers and verticals 
  • Implement network solutions that conform to the security, standards, and connectivity requirements
  • Troubleshoot network problems 
  • Support the creation of standardised documentation 

 

The candidate will also gain knowledge and experience of a wide range of networking and security technologies based around the following vendors:

 

  • Cisco Routing and Switching (and the associated CCNA certification) 
  • Meraki Cloud Managed Networks 
  • Aruba Enterprise Networking and Security solutions  

 

 Following graduation from the role the candidate will have the opportunity to develop and widen their skills across a variety of Networking digital connect solutions. 

 

Main Responsibilities 

 

  • Assist consultants with customers to understand and document their specific networking requirements 
  • The ability to troubleshoot all Meraki & HP Aruba wireless product lines including wireless access points, mobility management application, and phones 
  • Ability to write applying programmability and coding to network configuration activities
  • Read and analyse packet capture using Wireshark and other 
  • Design and implement user interface 
  • Integrate solutions into the wider Cisco Meraki & HP Aruba wireless suite of products  
  • Support consultants to plan, cost and schedule the implementation Cisco Meraki & HP Aruba wireless suite of products 
  • Shadow and support pre-sales consultant’s activity such customer networking workshops 

 

The Ideal Candidate 

 

  • Completion of an IT related degree focused in software development 
  • Completion of an industrial placement or job experience of 6 months minimum  
  • Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills 
  • Good understanding of fundamental networking protocols, including OSI model, TCP, STP, ARP, Ethernet 
  • Demonstrable understanding of the lifecycle of software development  
  • An understanding of Agile project methodologies 
  • Demonstrable experience of interfacing with customers 
  • Experience with a fundamental understanding of and hands-on experience with network technologies including:  
  • Firewalls, content filters, routing and switching, VLANs, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Wireless networks 
  • Ability to write software code using Ansible, Python or Terraform
  • Good understanding and hands on familiarity with Linux
