Test Manager
Life on the team
We are currently looking for a Test Manager to join our busy and dynamic team. The role will involve taking ownership for the end-to-end delivery of assigned testing projects, ensuring high quality in accordance with Computacenter standards and processes. You will also manage multiple projects in parallel ensuring they are all delivered successfully. The role is based from our Hatfield office on a Hybrid basis.
What you’ll do
Financial, Timeline and Effort Control (10%)
- Ensure the estimated effort for test resources is as precise as possible and includes all test deliverables
- Ensure each test deliverable meets the agreed quality standards, timeline, and effort
- If deliverables fall behind schedule and require additional effort, ensure an RFC/additional budget is agreed with the PM and Portfolio Manager
Test Planning (30%)
- Provide effort and cost estimation, the test schedule, and resource needs (e.g. broader business teams)
- Produce the Test Plan including the approach (functional and non-functional), environment requirements, data requirements, test users access requirements, entry/exit criteria, communicate the test plan and test schedule to all parties involved
- Take accountability for reviewing requirements and creating test cases
- Take accountability for producing regular progress reports as to the state of test readiness
Test Execution (50%)
- Hold regular meetings to review test progress and triage defects
- Coordinate testers effectively to achieve daily execution targets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure thorough testing coverage and effective issue resolution
- Ensure defects are managed, chased and resolved in a timely manner escalating as required
- Produce regular progress reports as to the status of test execution
- Manage the test schedule ensuring all parties are informed of any deviation, any slippage should have mitigating actions
- Manage risks and issues in collaboration with the projects taking ownership for test related risks and issues
- Analyse test results, identify issues, and provide detailed reports and recommendations
- Ensure management information is at hand for requirements coverage, defect status, trends and root cause analysis, test execution progress
- Ensure stakeholders are fully informed, are bought into and support the test process
Project Closure (10%)
- Ensure the end of test reports are created
- Ensure all test assets are saved in the correct area and meet high standards of quality and the Spira project is closed
- Ensure feedback is received from all stake holders and lessons sessions held to understand areas for improvement

- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, with high quality, and aligned with CC standards to achieve stakeholder satisfaction
- Stakeholders trust and are advocates of testing
- Effective contributions to the delivery of projects that brings value to the business in terms of time, quality and cost
- Taking ownership of end to end responsibilities of each project assigned with minimal supervision
- Taking accountability of test teams by mentoring, ensuring best practices followed and meeting the objectives
What you’ll need
Essential
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Senior Test Manager
- Exceptional leadership capabilities with the ability to navigate through change and achieve business and technology driven initiatives managing senior stakeholder expectations
- Demonstrable organisational, time management, mentoring and coaching skills leading a team of matrix managed SMEs or Test resources
- Extensive experience and deep understanding of Quality and Test Assurance best practices as well as the software development lifecycle including Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid methodologies
- Detailed knowledge of formal Test Management methodologies, processes and approaches
- Proven ability to lead and execute quality assurance and test assurance activities demonstrating excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines proving a clear action plan, regular communication, progress updates and take personal ownership and accountability to deliver
- Good demonstrable negotiating and influencing skills to deal with sensitive issues
- Ability to draft Testing documentation (test plans, specifications, functional and non-functional)
- Knowledge and adoption of ISO-IEC-IEEE 29119
- Knowledge and adoption of Test Management tools (e.g Quality centre or Spira)
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification
- Team management development training programmes
- Leadership development training programmes
- This is a global role and the expectation is to provide a global test service
Desirable
- TMMi professional certification
- ITIL v4 certification
- Excellent analytical skills, able to understand e2e solutions and troubleshoot issues
- Knowledge and adoption of Prince 2 or similar project management methodologies
- Knowledge and adoption of ITIL v4 Service Validation & Testing
- SAFe v6 foundation certification
- Knowledge and adoption of Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi)
