Life on the team
We are seeking an experienced Shift Technician to join our Building Services Department at Computacenter. In this role, you will be responsible for the effective recovery, rectification of any faults and planned maintenance on the MHE equipment.
Location: Hatfield
Hours of work: 8 am to 4 pm 3 days per week (22,5 hours per week in total)
What you’ll do
- Carry out reactive and planned maintenance on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, implementing timely and effective solutions to minimise downtime.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring equipment is safely restored to service within agreed timescales.
- Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance activities in line with maintenance schedules.
- Work with PLC-controlled systems, supporting troubleshooting and basic adjustments where required.
- Collaborate with operational teams to identify recurring issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Accurately record maintenance activities, faults, and resolutions using internal systems.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
- Support site-wide engineering activities and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
What you’ll need
- Qualified and time-served multi-skilled technician with strong electrical background.
- Experienced in fault finding and rectification, in a demanding production environment.
- Previous experience of working with PLC’s an advantage.
- Experience in maintaining automated materials handling equipment or similar.
- Self-motivated and flexible with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Astute practical awareness of Health and Safety principles.
