Life on the team

We are transforming our Resource Management function within Computacenter’s Group Professional Services business to support our continued growth.

As a Resource Specialist, you’ll play an important role in making sure our Professional Services teams have access to the right people, with the right skills, in the right place and at the right time.

Working closely with the Resource Management Business Partner, you’ll help maintain an accurate view of our skills, capability and capacity, while supporting the effective fulfilment of resourcing demand. You’ll consider a broad range of options, including our UK teams, nearshore and offshore colleagues, contractors and external partners, to help us deliver the right combination of skills, cost efficiency and speed.

This is a varied role where you’ll build strong relationships across the business, balance changing priorities and contribute to the ongoing development of a responsive and effective Resource Management service.

What you’ll do

  • Support the Resource Management Business Partner in identifying the best available route for fulfilling resource requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate, real-time view of internal skills, certifications, experience, grades, availability and development aspirations using our resource management tools.
  • Match internal resource supply with opportunities, balancing skills, experience, customer requirements, development needs and commercial considerations.
  • Monitor utilisation, bench availability and capacity risks, escalating shortages or constraints where appropriate.
  • Support resource supply and demand forecasting by providing accurate data and insight.
  • Work with our Managed Service Provider and external partners to source suitably skilled resources when additional capability is required.
  • Review competing resourcing priorities across teams and help resolve or escalate potential conflicts.
  • Prepare clear resourcing briefs that accurately explain the required skills, location, timescales and commercial requirements.
  • Support the review of CVs, shortlisting of candidates and coordination of interviews with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of resource requests and provide clear, timely updates throughout the fulfilment process.
  • Build trusted relationships with Practice teams, project teams and Practice leaders to understand resource availability, skills and project timelines.
  • Act as a point of contact for day-to-day resourcing queries.
  • Develop effective relationships with Resource Management teams in other countries.
  • Support the onboarding and continued development of Resource Management colleagues.
  • Contribute to the standardisation and improvement of resourcing processes, policies and governance.
  • Support the introduction of new resourcing tools and technologies.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to a positive, collaborative and improvement-focused team environment.

What you’ll need

  • Experience working in Resource Management, ideally within an IT or Professional Services environment.
  • Strong relationship-management skills, with experience engaging and negotiating with stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to learn quickly, think on your feet and remain comfortable when priorities or requirements are changing.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate data.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work flexibly and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience using resource management tools.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience of workforce planning, Power BI, advanced Excel or AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot would be advantageous.
