What you do:

 

As a Project Manager 2 (PM2) in Computacenter’s Projects & Programmes Practice you will manage entire projects or work-streams on larger projects and programmes. These may be stand-alone projects or delivered within a Projects & Portfolio Office (PPO). You may also be required to lead a less complex Projects & Portfolio Office (PPO).

Your scope of activity can range from pre-sales (leading, scoping, estimating and designing the project or assuring the solution), through delivery and into closure. You will need to understand and work with different commercial models (e.g. Fixed Price, Time and Materials or Resource on Demand). 

Delivery of a successful project will include: building and managing your team, ensuring the agreed products are delivered, effective communication, managing project controls (including risk, issue, customer dependencies and change) and providing a high-quality professional outcome to the satisfaction of our customers and other stakeholders.

You will be part of our exciting and diverse Projects & Programmes Practice in Group Professional Services. The people in Projects Practice have a real team spirit and desire to achieve success for our customers and themselves. We really invest time and effort in each other. Our interdisciplinary teams are not only on the same wavelength, we work collaboratively, we share knowledge and we celebrate success

    You’ll also get to engage with other areas within Computacenter, including: Consultancy, TRG (Engineering), Global Managed Services (GMS), Service Management and the Sales teams.

 

What you’re responsible  for:

 

Your overall responsibility is for meeting the commitments made to customers and internal stakeholders to successfully deliver the assignment you are leading as defined in your terms of reference or project control documentation.

These will be delivered alongside the agreed financial outcome of the assignment. In support of this, you’re expected to understand and articulate to customers both what Computacenter sells and delivers and have a good working knowledge of the technology/solution.

Additional tasks will include change management, business management, contract management, and being able to responsibly and effectively manage project finances. You may also have responsibility of a team.

 

Objectives will be set out and will be discussed regularly for each assignment or project you work on, and any questions you have you will be fully supported!

 

An example of objectives may include:

    • Specific assignment requirements

    • Customer satisfaction objectives

    • Delivering the products to the agreed quality, time and cost

    • Maximising contribution and delivery activities

 

You will have skills and demonstrable experience in all or some of the following:

 

  • Datacenter Migration

  • Datacenter Relocation

  • Migrating Workloads to the Cloud

  • DC Modernisation

  • Building Cloud Platforms

  • Awareness of AWS, Google, VMware, Azure

  • Enabling Multicloud

  • Public and Private Cloud Adoption

  • Scrum Master

 

And:

 

• Trained in project management methodology, for example; Prince2 or Agile Techniques (Scrum Master).

• A demonstrable track record of delivering less-complex large assignments and successful project outcomes.

• Demonstrable leadership skills.

• Ability to apply Emotional Intelligence with flexibility, to adapt personal style and approach to meet specific customer needs.

• Able to apply influencing skills appropriately to enable the required outcomes for your stakeholders and to enable positive assignment outcomes.

• Able to apply a variety of influencing skills to enable the required outcomes for your stakeholders, to enable positive assignment outcomes.

• Understand the wider context of the project you are leading.

• Ability to articulate the value of project management to internal and external customers. 

• Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
