Principal Consultant- AWS

Group Professional Services encompasses Consultancy in the UK & France together with the Project practices across the UK, France and Germany. We are made of up of over 1,000 skilled practitioners with deep expertise across core infrastructure technologies and industry standard architecture and project management methodologies.

 

You will be responsible for architecture, design, and implementation of cloud solutions and advisory services for our valued clients, possessing the right skills to deliver the following key outcomes: increasing business revenue, developing new opportunities, and ensuring the high delivery standards. The ideal candidate has knowledge and experience to support the sales, business development and delivery of key projects, build valuable relationships both within COMPUTACENTER and with clients, and develop strong capabilities through working with senior team members and talented colleagues.

 

With a validated background, the candidate must prove an expertise in multi-cloud platforms, but AWS knowledge is essential.

 

You will be working alongside talented DevOps engineers solving major Cloud challenges. You will be taking ownership of two primary goals: to help us meet & exceed infrastructure performance goals, and to build and extend the platform in new ways.

 

You will work with Terraform, Kubernetes, Packer, Ansible, and a collection of AWS services. Job Responsibilities:
•    Develops and maintains mission-critical information extraction, analysis, and management systems.
•    Add value thru excellent delivery, enabling cost effectiveness (FinOps). 
•    Implements streaming analysis algorithms to generate question focused data sets (QFDs).
•    Provides direct and responsive support for urgent analytic needs.
•    Participates in architecture and software development activities.
•    Translates loosely defined requirements into solutions.
•    Uses open source technologies and tools to accomplish specific use cases encountered within the project.
•    Uses coding languages or scripting methodologies to solve a problem with a custom workflow.
•    Collaborates with others on the project to brainstorm about the best way to tackle a complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problem.
•    Performs incremental testing actions on code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline execution and minimize errors encountered.

 

What You Will Be Doing

•    Collaborate with passionate technologists across multiple disciplines to establish and meet security, resiliency and performance requirements.
•    Design and operate infrastructure that processes millions of transactions every day.
•    Work to create and distribute best-practices for future-proof service development to the rest of the team.
•    Continuously evaluate the team’s workflow and contribute to its improvement and automation.
•    Join our team in our on-call rotation to ensure the high performance of our payment platform.

 

About You

•    3+ years of experience designing and operating distributed systems based on Linux
•    2+ year experience with AWS
•    1+ year experience with infrastructure-as-code, such as Terraform
•    Experience with scripting - Python, bash
•    Experience with CI / CD pipelines such as Jenkins
•    1+ year experience with Docker
•    1+ year experience with cluster orchestration systems (Kubernetes, Mesos, Nomad…)
•    Experience in using DevOps Tooling landscape:  containers, Git, automation, security 
•    Good knowledge of network infrastructure design & public cloud architecture
•    Self-motivated, able to deliver consistent results through problem solving
•    Autonomous, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal guidance
•    Experience in architecting and implementing multi-cloud solutions. 
•    Proven experience in managing delivery including scope, risks, budgets and client relationships,
•    Experience in delivering cloud and DevOps solution part of digital transformation.
•    Strong business development skills, client relationship and presentation skills.
•    Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
•    Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies
•    Experience in using DevOps Tooling landscape:  containers, Git, automation, security 


DevOps Engineer Qualifications/Skills:

•    Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service
•    Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
•    Process-oriented with great documentation skills
•    Professional Certification from one or more major cloud providers – preferably AWS
