Portfolio Test Manager

Test Strategy & Execution – Portfolio Test Manager


Role Purpose: Communicate, agree and implement the Test Strategy & Execution standard test processes across multiple departments in GIS including (1) Central Operations, (2) Workplace, (3) Commercial and Business Services Systems (4) Core Platforms. Ensuring all change  from minor operational changes to complex programs go through the standard test process.   






•            Forecast, plan and deliver the test deliverables for all operational changes across a number of GIS functions (Operational change includes but not limited to production fixes, system upgrades, projects and programmes of work)

•            Ensure all operational changes follow the Test Strategy & Execution standards including responsibility for Test Strategy, Test Plan, Test Execution Schedule, Test


Management tools, Defect Management and Test Reporting activities


•            Provide information on the status of testing (test preparation, test execution progress and defects) for each operational change to enable informed decision making

•            Provide compliance information to test governance practices against all operational changes, are test checkpoints being met or breached. Ensuring good practice is being followed

•            Provide leadership and technical management for test managers and testers assigned to operational changes

•            Create, maintain and take ownership of risks, issues and service improvement initiatives

•            Attend relevant governance / project meetings to present the position on Testing and influence go / no-go decisions

•            Report on Lessons Learned and Service Improvement opportunities


Test Resourcing


•            Feed into demand and capacity planning for the area

•            Verify Project tracker is accurate and reflects test effort


Team Activities


•            Promote the benefits of testing and its impact on speed and quality. Feedback on current practices and industry trends.

•            Support the team commercial and performance management

•            Perform other duties as agreed with your Line Manager

•            All Computacenter's policies and procedures adhered to Critical Success Factors / Key Performance Indicators

•            Change deployed for our users and customers work first time

•            Change is deployed on schedule

•            Protect the business from liability by adhering to compliance standards, e.g. Test Checkpoints and governance criteria per engagement are successfully followed and achieved

•            Ensure test management activities are within forecast

•            The commercial impact of poor-quality causing project over-runs and increased service cost is reduced

•            The numbers of defects found in production is tracked and reduced over time

•            Able to deputise for the Senior Manager.           




•            Minimum 5 - years Test Manager and Defect Management experience in an infrastructure or managed service environment

•            Knowledge of Prince 2 methodology

•            ISTQB Foundation (CTFL) certification

•            Knowledge of ISO-IEC-IEEE 29119 and / or TMMi

•            Knowledge of ITIL v3 Service Validation & Testing

•            Knowledge of SAP, datacentre, end-user and service desk environments

•            Use of formal Test Management tools (e.g Quality centre or Spira)

•            Detailed knowledge of formal Test Management methodologies, processes and approaches

•            Good demonstrable negotiating and influencing skills to deal with sensitive customer issues and manage stakeholders

•            Ability to present to internal and external audiences

•            Demonstrable time and organisational skills (working with limited supervision), good leadership and coaching skills

•            Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

•            Demonstrates awareness of Health and Safety at work.




•            Excellent analytical skills comparable to business analysts able to understand e2e solutions

•            Experience in working within a globally diverse team

•            ITIL v3 Intermediate Level, Prince 2 or PMI certified

•            Experience as a Test Analyst or Project Manager

•            Experience of performance, security and non-functional testing

•            An understanding of Computacenter's service offerings

•            Able to communicate in German / French / English as a 2nd language.
