Portfolio Test Manager

Location:           Hatfield (with Hybrid)

Must have the ability to undertake Security Clerance if requested

 

The Portfolio Test Manager provides strategic leadership and expert guidance on test methodologies and best practices. This role is accountable for delivering test management services to Customer Onboarding & Programme Delivery. The focus is on providing high-quality test managers to ensure timely delivery of customers on Computacenter tooling and strategic projects and programmes.

 

What you’ll do

 

Programme Delivery (25%):

  • Work closely with the Head of Programme Delivery, PMs and Business SMEs to ensure that the projects and programme pipeline is accurately sized for testing resources, budgeted and reviewed monthly for any changes.
  • Ensure test managers are following, communicating and delivering against the organisational strategy, test budget is agreed with the PMs, plans are finalized, and all test deliverables meet the highest standards and are delivered on schedule.
  • Identify any environmental requirements for upcoming Projects and Programmes and ensure these are communicated
  • Collaborate with Product Leads to drive the strategy for non-functional testing, ensuring the protection of operational stability.

Customer Onboarding (25%):

  • Work closely with the Director of Customer Onboarding and the leadership team and PMs to ensure customer onboarding is fully resourced for testing, budget is approved, plans are finalized.
  • Work closely with Customer Onboarding and the Environment Management team to identify the environmental (inc. Data) requirements for customer projects and ensure that the Customer Test Environment (CTE) is fit for current and future customer demand.
  • Cost models are reviewed regular, reflect the work being executed.

 

Team Management (global team) (40%):

  • Establish a core team of expert GIS Test Managers working alongside Project Managers and Business SMEs to deliver projects into production to the highest standards.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to team members.
  • Provide clear and effective communication of the team’s goals and
  • Ensure vendors are managed effectively, provide management information and deliver to SLA’s and KPIs
  • Take ownership of issues, escalating as necessary
  • Provide regular progress reporting
  • Provide financial oversight and reporting
  • Conduct regular audits for test deliverables against policy and standards and implement continuous improvement initiatives

 

Test Strategy & Environment Evangelist (10%):

  • Take ownership for delivering key testing initiatives as set by the Head of Testing & Environments
  • Ensure Test & Environment policies and standards

 

What you’ll need

 

Essential

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Portfolio Test Manager or Programme Test Manager
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities with the ability to navigate through change and achieve business and technology driven initiatives managing senior stakeholder expectations
  • Demonstrable organisational, time management, mentoring and coaching skills leading a team of test experts
  • Extensive experience and deep understanding of Quality and Test Assurance best practices as well as the software development lifecycle including Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid methodologies
  • Excellent Knowledge and adoption of Prince 2 or similar project management methodologies
  • Knowledge and adoption of ISO-IEC-IEEE 29119
  • Knowledge and adoption of Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi):
  • Knowledge and adoption of ITIL v4 Service Validation & Testing
  • Knowledge and adoption of Test Management tools (e.g Quality centre or Spira)
  • ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification
  • SAFe v6 foundation certification
  • Team management development training programmes
  • Leadership development training programmes
  • This is a global role and the expectation is to provide a global test service

 

Desirable:

  • Prince 2 certification
  • TMMi professional certification
  • ITIL v4 certification
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to understand e2e solutions and troubleshoot issues
