Our team

During this apprenticeship, you will be part of the Core Platforms team with the Group Information Services (GIS) department. The team is split into two areas, Central Infrastructure and Network Services. 

The role of Central Infrastructure is to design, build and operate the core infrastructure located in our central data centres and wider branch locations. Supporting our internal and external customers, their systems, and applications, though innovation, continuous improvement and best of breed solutions and services.

The role of the Network Services team is to design, build and operate the global Computacenter network infrastructure located in our central data centres, global configuration centres and all branch locations. Providing highly available and secure connectivity solutions for both our internal and external customers to safely consume all our core systems and services though innovation, continuous improvement and best of breed solutions and services.

 

About the apprenticeship Programme

For the duration for your programme, you will be studying towards a level 4 Network Engineer qualification. Throughout your apprenticeship you will dedicate 80% of your time in work and 20% studying toward your qualification.

 

What you’ll be doing

Learning and understanding the technologies used within Computacenter, you will also:

  • Learn why and how certain technologies are used
  • Understand how to monitor the performance tools used to manage the Computacenter network
  • Follow the processes in place required to maintain the service provided. For example, change process, incident management and problem management
  • Planning and executing upgrades on technologies internally

 

What should you bring with you?

As well as a strong interest in IT you should be able to demonstrate the following.

  • Minimum of two GCSE’s graded 4–9 (C-A*) including English language and Maths
  • A level 3 qualification in an IT-related subject
  • Good Communication skills
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Ideally have some networking exposure e.g Cisco networking courses. However, this is not essential
