Master Data Specialist (Associate/Junior Level)

Team overview


The Group Material Master team is responsible for accurately creating and maintaining all GTS SAP materials for Computacenter’s UK and European Technology Sourcing business.  The Group team consists of country teams based in the UK, Germany and Hungary, each reporting to a country Team Leader.  This role works in a team of nine Master Data Specialists, reports to the Material Masters Team Leader for Material Master. 


What you’ll be doing


  • Securing day-to-day business

    • Creation and revision of commercial goods (material types: HAWA, SOLI, FRDL, ZMAT, ZBUN, ZSRV), which are used in the order types of the commercial goods supply chain
    • Create, maintain and update material master data based on requests received from Customer Management or Partner Management
    • Blocking and unblocking of articles according to the specifications of the Partner Management, manufacturer road map and internal regulations
    • Maintenance of follow-up items (in proactive coordination with operative purchasing) and maintenance in SAP and Remote Desktop
    • Regular reviews of data quality with Partner Management and Customer Management teams
    • Price maintenance of commercial goods, in particular updating after information is provided by the manufacturer
    • Administration of price lists and ensuring they are up-to-date through proactive contact and request to suppliers
    • Undertake regular updates to materials based on ‘price & availability’ feeds or fixed business range reviews
    • Monitor and manage all inbound price & availability feeds
    • Manage all ‘PVC’ rate setting
    • Manage all ‘Source of Supply’ settings
    • Template creation for automatic article creation and regular reviews
    • Responsibility for the topicality of the used templates for the automatic article creation
    • Monitoring and, if necessary, postprocessing of automatically created materials
    • Prompt processing of internal and external communication via e-mail, task manager, etc.
    • Processing of requirements for article creation via database
    • Development and maintenance of supplier relationships in day-to-day business
    • Automatic EOL job planning and control
    • Task processing for individual requirements in accordance with the Service Level Agreement agreed with the customer
  • Cooperation in the team and other areas

    • Ensuring representation and support of other team members depending on workload and representation situations
    • Ensuring know-how transfer within the team, keeping documentation and processing instructions current
    • Reconciliation of shared material master fields across Computacenter operating countries or different tools/systems
    • Internal team communication and coordination
    • Interface to the team leader
  • Customer satisfaction

    • Support enquiry management via telephone, database, task manager or e-mail
    • Coordination and planning of mass changes
    • Support for complex customer requirements
  • Generation of added value and cost control

    • Identification of process improvements and submission of proposals for implementation
    • Create and publish key figures according to specifications
    • Continuous further development of product knowledge
    • Continuous further development of CC internal end-to-end processes

  • Operational

    • Understands Material Master operational processes at a basic level, specifically those required to deliver the core elements of the MM role.

    • Aspires to attain high levels of data quality and accuracy.

    • Understands principles of how work should be prioritised.

    • Is aware of MM SLA targets and strives to achieve these via use of TMS.

    • Has awareness and a basic understanding of the internal customers and other key teams within GTS that MM engages with regularly.

    • Operates within the technology area and/or Group country(s) supported.

  • Tools & Systems

    • Has a basic knowledge of MM systems and tools including core SAP transactions, Accord, OneTouch (TMS), and utilises these effectively.

    • Understands who to engage for support and guidance with tools and systems.

    • Basic knowledge of MS-Office (including Excel)

  • Industry & Technology

    • Has a basic knowledge of IT products, manufacturers and vendors within their assigned category or technology area. 

    • Sometimes requires support and guidance to correctly identify products, manufacturers or vendors.
