Junior Buyer

Job Description – Junior Buyer - Indirect
 

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience of indirect procurement processes and systems.  You will be responsible for managing your own suppliers and associated administrative processes and procedures.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with designated indirect suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and service levels are achieved
  • Manage supplier invoicing ensuring invoices are cleared on time and internal controls are adhered to
  • Carry out regular reviews of alternative suppliers and provide written reports on findings with recommendations
  • Approval and vetting of orders raised our procurement system and creation of Purchase Orders
  • Provide end user support and guidance for internal web-based procurement systems
  • Internal process control and monitoring.
  • Assist with preparation of tender documentation for key services and supplies
  • Provide administrative support to Indirect Procurement team
  • Ensure procurement processes and procedures are maintained and adhered to by the business
  • Maintain accurate records to enable production of regular department and supplier performance reports, including monthly supplier expenditure and savings reports
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure all invoice queries are dealt with effectively and promptly

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent IT literacy and skills including MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience of SRM and SAP
  • Commercial acumen
  • Capable of working to tight deadlines, in a fast paced environment; able to work independently and prioritise tasks
  • Confident with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, able to resolve complex problems
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Exacting attention to detail, planning and organisational skills
  • Maintaining excellent attendance and time keeping standards
  • Working well as part of a team with colleagues and management
  • Experience of working in a corporate head office environment, ideally within Procurement
  • Studying towards MCIPS
