Lead Consultant (HCI SME)

About the role
As a Computacenter Lead Consultant, you will deliver transformative Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) solutions for enterprise customers, leveraging platforms such as Nutanix, VMware vSAN, Dell VxRail, and Cisco UCS/UCS-X with Intersight management. This role requires deep technical expertise, strategic advisory capabilities, and the ability to lead complex design, implementation, and migration projects across multi-vendor HCI environments.
Along with implementing and assisting with designing single and multi-vendor technology solutions, you will work closely with industry-leading sales and technical teams to assess customer needs and create sustainable technology roadmaps. From strategy to fulfillment and managed services, you will help clients maximize their IT investments and achieve operational excellence.

 

Annual Salary range: $150K - $170K USD 


What you'll be doing

  • Works closely with Consulting Engineers and Principal Consultants to deliver services that support company objectives and align with Winning Together values.
  • Develop as a technical leader in technology solutions by doing the following:
    • Receive mentoring from Principal Consultants for advancement.
    • Mentoring other Consulting Engineers.
    • Lead a team of resources on larger projects.
    • Review the deliverables of other Engineers, as appropriate.
    • Act as a point of escalation for Consulting Engineers.
  • Be regarded as a thought leader by recommending new technologies, best practices and tools that support the growth of the business
  • Assess customer environment and make design and solution recommendations.
  • Act as liaison between Pre-Sales and Delivery teams.
  • Provide design, deployment and implementation services of single or multi-vendor solutions.
  • Handle issues escalated by Consultants.
  • Troubleshoot multi-vendor issues, create remediation plans, and plan execution
  • Lead Project teams as assigned
  • Be current with vendor offerings and technology
  • Achieve and maintain Industry and Partner-focused certifications as it relate to your focus area(s)
  • Be available to meet the customer’s IT needs

  • Collaborate with Consulting Engineers and Principal Consultants to deliver services aligned with company objectives and core values.
  • Lead design and deployment of HCI solutions including Nutanix, VMware vSAN, and Dell VxRail.
  • Plan, configure, and integrate Cisco UCS and UCS-X platforms with Cisco Intersight for centralized management, automation, and lifecycle operations.
  • Conduct infrastructure assessments and develop migration strategies for converged/HCI environments.
  • Provide technical leadership on large projects, mentor other engineers, and review technical deliverables.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex multi-vendor issues, develop remediation plans, and coordinate execution.
  • Collaborate with Pre-Sales to ensure proposed solutions align with delivery capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot performance, availability, and integration issues across compute, storage, and networking.
  • Stay current on emerging HCI technologies and vendor roadmaps, recommending enhancements and best practices.
  • Deliver detailed documentation, runbooks, and customer knowledge transfer sessions.


What you have

  • 5+ years of enterprise infrastructure implementation experience, including recent consulting engagements.
  • Proven expertise in Nutanix, VMware vSAN, and Dell VxRail deployment and optimization.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco UCS (B-Series, C-Series, UCS-X) and Cisco Intersight management.
  • Strong virtualization skills (VMware vSphere, AHV, ESXi) and storage protocol understanding (iSCSI, NFS, FC).
  • Professional certifications such as Nutanix NCP, VMware VCAP/VCIX, or Cisco CCNP Data Center preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in HCI architecture, deployment models, and integration.
  • Ability to design and deploy complex multi-technology solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in large, complex environments.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting for provisioning and lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and Backup/Recovery best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with proven client-facing confidence.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Proficiency in Hyper-convergence infrastructure, including vSphere, vSAN, 
  • Continuous Learning: Industry trends, and emerging virtualization and networking technologies.
  • Subject matter expert within your focused technology stack
  • Ability to deploy complex multi-technology solutions
  • Ability to participate in the design of complex technical solutions and provide input into bid, project and technical documents
  • Ability to function within a large virtual technical team, with good negotiation skills and who is a self-starter.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience with Linux and shell scripting (bash/zsh/sh)
  • Experience with troubleshooting in large, complex environments
  • Experience and/or understanding of Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and High-Availability concepts
  • Experience and/or knowledge of current industry-accepted Backup and Recovery concepts and practices
  • Demonstrated confidence in leading customer-facing discussions.
