Compliance Specialist

Key focus of this role is to identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks for Computacenter (Pty) Ltd and provide advice and input to all functions across the business through partnering with and supporting the senior leadership to ensure adherence to internal and external compliance requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation and adherence of all relevant local regulations and internal compliance requirements, including but not limited to:  POPIA / GDPR, Employment Equity, Social & Ethics, anti-corruption, BBBEE and any other regulatory compliance requirements
  • Co-ordinate the implementation and maintenance of the Compliance Framework and Management System for all areas in accordance with corporate requirements and local laws and regulations. This includes but not limited to: Compliance risk assessments, performance monitoring, reporting, internal/external compliance audits, etc.
  • Effectively prevents and/or detects violations of law, regulations, policies, or the Code of Conduct.
  • Implement and maintain local Compliance Strategy and promote within the company.
  • Ensuring that all employees are trained on Compliance.
  • Establishing & chairing the local Compliance Committee, the committee responsible for designing and implementing an effective compliance program and key decision making.
  • Interrogate, support and advice senior management on any new legislation or business request where compliance may be at risk.
  • Keep the Regulatory Universe of the Firm up to date
  • Compliance point of contact for Computacenter South Africa for all internal and external compliance matters.

 

Knowledge & Key Skills

 

Essential:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Law/Risk Management/Accounting/Auditing

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of seven (7)years’ work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one of the areas of responsibility.
  • Experience in developing and communicating training and awareness material
  • Holding responsibility for oversight of all regulations and Acts relating to financial services generally.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (IT, Business, etc)

Skills

  • Stakeholder management at all levels and up to Exco
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, project management experience and delegation skills whilst working with diverse stakeholders on varied projects.
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to assert oneself in challenging situations.

Desirable

 

Experience:

  • 5 years’ financial services compliance/legal advising/internal auditing/risk management
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management

Skills

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in simple and user-friendly language
  • Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills

 

Additional:

  • Ability to balance the roles of trusted advisor and internal policing
  • Ability to perform duties in a self-motivated and independent manner.
