Data Center Field Technician

About the role

As a Data Center Field Technician, you will assist in providing transformative technology solutions for the most visionary companies in the world. Along with deploying, upgrading, and troubleshooting single and multi-vendor technology solutions, you will have the opportunity to work within an industry-leading team to understand our clients’ needs and craft sustainable roadmaps to achieve their goals. This role has a data center focus.

 

This role sits mostly in Franklin Park, IL with some travel.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing deployment services and upgrades for single- or multi-vendor solutions.
  • To meet business and customer requirements, performing a complex range of technical work activities either remotely or at the customer's site.
  • Coordinating small teams delivering basic work packages in line with company process to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Documenting and reporting on work completed to ensure compliance with company and customer procedures. 
  • Contributing to the development of technical procedures and standards to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Evaluating and escalating issues in line with company processes to ensure customer demands are met.
  • Providing customer service to internal and external customers to ensure consistent experience.

 

What you have 

  • 3-5+ years of professional experience in large enterprise data center environments.
  • Extreme attention to detail. 
  • Experience with Dell Servers.
  • Understanding of Dell iDRAC and how to use it.
  • Previous data center experience and love working with core hardware.
  • Solid hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Error code reading and troubleshooting cable issues, connections issues, failed components.
  • Experience tearing down a complete server to bare motherboard and completely re-installing and reconnecting.
  • The willingness to be extremely flexible with work hours and travel.
  • The ability to meet the physical requirements of the usual and customary methods of performing the job functions, including: a variety of standing, sitting, and walking throughout the day; lifting of up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to dynamic team environments to maintain consistent effective contribution.
  • The candidate must understand that the team is very dynamic in terms of communication between team members, which happens over texts, emails, and cell phones. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot multi-vendor issues.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

 

Bonus points

  • CompTIA hardware certifications.
  • Dell Tech certifications (PowerEdge).
  • Experience with CoolIT liquid cooled manifolds.
