Process Engineering Technician

About the role
As part of the Computacenter group, we continue to expand our Circular Services brand and global capabilities to Computacenter’s customer and partner community. As a Processing Technician, you will perform basic functionality testing & eradicate all data on a wide range of 2nd user IT equipment including laptops, desktops, printers, monitors, servers, net-working, mobile devices and more. Capture data on each item processed including specification information and grade of equipment. Ensures correct processes are followed to maintain integrity of work carried out and meets data eradication standards, is self-motivated and can work under pressure to achieve daily individual and team targets. 

 

What you'll be doing

  • Partner with business leaders to deliver services that support company objectives and that are consistent with Winning Together values
  • Carry out daily technical processing or quality checking activities on a wide range of 2nd user IT equipment
  • Work with other members of the team to ensure departmental targets are achieved
  • Ensure all client data is appropriately protected via wiping/destruction or other approved company methods
  • Identify, inventory, and diagnose customer-owned systems and accessories 
  • Access vendor warranty portals to assess warranty status 
  • Use approved diagnostic tools to test functionality of units and grade them appropriately based on set customer-based criteria
  • Verify units are separated by designation (redeploy, recycle, remarket), and units going back to stock are in good, clean, functioning condition
  • Ensure safe removal and disposal of end-of-life, defective, and damaged Lithium-Ion batteries
  • Ensure safe removal and installation of parts to restore functionality based on customer requirements using our established manufacturer portals
  • Communicate with management team providing feedback on daily activity, handover and challenges faced
  • Assist with any priority client requirements, queries and problems as directed by the management team
  • Comply and adhere to company policies & procedures (HR, Health & Safety, ISO Certifications, other industry accreditations)
  • Maintain site security and adhere to security policy & procedure
  • Keep work areas neat while contributing to cleanliness and organization of the department
  • Participate in and successfully complete any company provided training
  • Demonstrate aptitude for working under pressure and achieve individual targets/deadlines set
  • Complete any other reasonable instructions from management

 

What you have

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Experience with Microsoft Office at basic level (Excel, Word, Outlook preferred but not essential)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good knowledge and experience of MS Office and MS Teams. D365 experience is a plus
  • Practical knowledge of various IT hardware i.e. printers, systems, laptops, monitors, servers, etc. (preferred but not essential)
  • Practical knowledge of IT components i.e. processors, memory, storage, etc. (preferred but not essential) 
  • Able to carry out safe manual handling of an average 50 to 60 units a day with a maximum lift of up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good self-organization and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests simultaneously
  • Can build trust, be assertive when required and shows initiative and enthusiasm
  • Resilience, and ability to deal with stressful situations
  • Motivated individual/flexible self-starter with ability to manage time 
  • Ability to work in team environment and effectively communicate with other teams
  • Ability to take direction and follow instructions
