German speaking Senior Tactical Buyer

Location: Hungary - Budapest | Job-ID: 216590 | Contract type: | Business Unit: Purchasing & Supply Chain

Your future tasks will be…

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tactical Buyer to join our Global Indirect Procurement team. You will be responsible for leading end-to-end sourcing activities (RFX), managing supplier relationships, and supporting category strategies across a diverse range of indirect spend areas, ensuring value creation, compliance, and operational excellence.

This newly created role goes beyond execution – we are looking for someone who can pro-actively and independently drive sourcing initiatives, challenge stakeholders, and build structured ways of working, acting as a role model for future Tactical Buyer hires.

You will form part of a busy global procurement team, collaborating across regions and working on international projects, with clear exposure to stakeholders and senior procurement leadership.

This role is based at our Centre of Excellence in Hungary and offers opportunities for future career development into more senior positions within our global procurement organisation.

On a daily basis:

  • Lead and execute end-to-end sourcing events (RFPs/RFIs etc.) independently for low- to mid-complexity scopes, including stakeholder alignment, RFP development, cost analysis, supplier engagement, negotiation and award.
  • Act as a trusted partner to Category Managers by actively supporting and contributing to category strategies and supplier initiatives.
  • Manage supplier selection, negotiations, and contract execution within defined thresholds, demonstrating strong commercial judgement and confidence in negotiations.
  • Work with imperfect or limited data sets, proactively gathering, structuring and analysing data to identify cost-saving and optimisation opportunities.
  • Ensure procurement compliance with corporate policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and improve procurement catalogues and sourcing documentation within procurement tools.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across functions and regions, demonstrating assertive and effective communication in English and German.
  • Monitor supplier performance and actively resolve operational and commercial issues.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities in sourcing processes and supplier management.
  • Leverage procurement tools, MS Office and AI solutions in a structured and appropriate way to improve efficiency and output quality.

You are the ideal candidate if…

  • You have solid hands-on experience in tactical sourcing (typically 4–6+ years) within a large, international organisation.
  • You have proven experience leading end-to-end RFx processes – not only supporting sourcing events but actively driving them.
  • You have strong commercial and financial acumen. You are confident working in an environment where data is not readily available and are able to collect, structure and analyze data, and build well-founded recommendations for decision-making.
  • You are fluent in English and German with strong business communication skills.
  • You demonstrate strong negotiation, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, including the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders assertively, and build relationships and credibility across functions.
  • You have a strong understanding of indirect procurement, sourcing best practices, and P2P cycle.
  • You bring advanced MS Office skills (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and experience with procurement tools.
  • You understand how to use AI tools effectively and responsibly to support your daily work.
  • You are structured, well-organised and able to prioritise independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • You show a proactive, ownership-driven mindset and are comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy.
  • You are motivated by building, improving and shaping processes, not only executing them.
