Data Protection Consultant

Job Introduction


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data Protection Consultant to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding Consultancy Practice within Computacenter. The role can be based from any of our UK offices and will involve regular UK wide travel. The Consultant will assist be responsible for the delivery of Data Protection solutions as well as input into designs and ad-hoc assistance with Presales consultancy to our customers, contributing to the successful delivery of our projects.

Computacenter is looking for a resource with an in-depth design and delivery understanding of Data Protection solutions including, but not limited to, products primarily in Veeam but also including other Data Protection and Storage vendors such as Rubrik, Dell, Commvault, Veeam. Experiences with datacentre migrations and Cloud are also of benefit. 

You will be responsible for providing Data Protection expertise to deliver solutions and infrastructure that meets our Customers’ business requirements within their overall IT strategy. The role will also involve staying at the forefront of new technologies and new vendors to ensure storage implementations integrate with these processes future-proofing our Customers’ designs.

 Role Responsibility

•    Serve as a technical point of contact in the design and delivery of Data Protection solutions and provide subject matter expert input into Data Protection designs
•    Undertake consultancy assignments and as part of wider technology solutions working either on your own or as part of a wider delivery team for wider solutions
•    Assist with the gathering of data to help architects design new platforms for our clients
•    Attend and present at customer workshops and meetings
•    Provide technical support as requested, for internal and external customers
•    Produce/update all assignment documentation. Undertake knowledge transfer to customer or third party personnel 
•    Keep up-to-date with current and future technologies, products and strategies
•    Maintain vendor accreditations and certifications whilst driving your own enablement and training plans
•    Be able to articulate and design the integration requirements for adjacent technology platforms (e.g. Cloud, SAAS, databases, storage etc.)
•    Be able to articulate and design against the security features and requirements within Data Protection (i.e. Encryption, Access and Authorisation methods etc.)


The Ideal Candidate

•    5+ years of Hands on Design and Delivery related work on Data Protection based solutions particularly 
o    Veeam Backup Replication
•    Professional certification for Veeam technologies (VMCE at minimum)
•    And also a good working knowledge of other Data Protection and Storage vendors such as 
o    Rubrik
o    Dell/EMC
o    Commvault
•    Experience in SAN switching technologies, particularly
o    Cisco 
o    Brocade
•    Experience with virtualisation platforms
•    Experience with cloud vendors and cloud data protection methods
•    Knowledge of scripting/automation skills
•    Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and network problems
•    Experience with being in teams on complex Data Protection deliverables


•    Experience with other vendor’s storage solutions, such as HDS, NetApp etc
•    Experience with Data Protection hardware and software platforms such as Data Domain, Quantum DXi
•    An understanding of server infrastructure including vSphere, Linux, Windows
•    An understanding of private & public cloud deployment concepts and basic networking understanding, such as IP subnets, security groups, routing, firewalls.
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field - or very significant experience required
•    Clearance at SC level
