Windows Technical consultant
The main components used within the team to provide these services are as follows:
· Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
· Windows server Update Server (WSUS) & SCCM for Patching
· Windows Failover Cluster
· Windows IIS
· PowerShell
· System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) for monitoring
· System Center Orchestrator & Jenkins for automation
Your key accountabilities
· Maintain the health status of all infrastructure components required to support the Windows platform
· Provide administration and technical support of a Microsoft 2008 / 2012 / 2016 Server environment including 3rd party and Microsoft applications like SCCM, SCOM, VMWare, and other bespoke business applications
· Monitoring and reporting of the server environment and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
· Perform server patching, data backups and recovery operations.
· Installation and configuration of Windows Operating system and hardware to corporate standards
· Provide support based on the shifts and out of hours based on an on-call rota.
· Participate in and manage technical projects
· Strong automation skill with PowerShell and have experience to automate the daily work
· Will work in rotational shifts and provide support during off business hours / weekends.
· Ensures all changes to the environment are covered by appropriate Change Control process/procedures.
· Working closely with other areas in the Platform Core and Services Group to understand future production requirements and delivering systems to meet these
· Ensuring operational security and standards are strictly maintained at all times.
· Maintain and develop relationships with the platform teams, and service providers to the Windows platform
· Cultivate and foster relationships with other team and departments within Fidelity
· Monitor issues and provide management reports on incidents and problem management
· Ensure all activities are compliant with security and regulatory requirements
Technical Engineering
· Act as technical lead or representative in Wintel based project activities, including the development and deployment of new tools and technologies
· Keep abreast of new initiatives, technologies and hardware specifications
· Attend VMware, Intel, Dell, Microsoft, Citrix, and other vendors business briefings and / or workshops on Wintel with the view on how new products and operating practices could be adopted by TIS
· Provide Windows related technical guidance and assistance to management, the team and the business, as required
Experience and Qualifications
Technical
· Overall 10-12 Years of experience in Windows Servers, Failover Cluster, PowerShell, SCCM, SCOM, etc.
· Position requires candidate to be a full-time graduate in IT stream. Preference will be given to candidates with Engineering background (BE/B. Tech/M. Tech) from a primer institute.
· Hands on experience of Windows Server Operating systems i.e. Windows Server 2008 / 2012 / 2016 is essential.
· Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems Troubleshooting and Support.
· Experience in supporting Microsoft Clusters, IIS, PowerShell, is essential
· Experience in Windows Server patching and compliance using tools like WSUS & SCCM is essential.
· Preference will be given to candidates with experience in PowerShell (Advance Level)
· Experience with Cloud Technologies Like Azure and Amazon.
· Experience in AD, Group Policy Management,
· Experience of CI/CD, Jenkins and Terraform.
· Experience of NetBackup, SCCM, SCOM, and O365 desirable
· Experience in supporting in Hardware issues on Dell/HP servers is essential.
· Experience with SQL Server, VMWare ESX5.x+, Citrix XenApp 6.x + is desirable
· Candidate must be well orientated with Network, Security and Storage technologies,
· Understanding of Active Directory.
· Certification in MCSA (410,411,412) is essential.
· Preference will be given to candidates with Microsoft or other technical certification like VCP (VMWARE), CCA/CCAA (XenApp 5/6) or CCEE certifications.
· Candidate must possess an Engineering degree/diploma (BE/B. Tech/BCA etc) in Computer Science/Information Technology/Electronics from a recognized college/university.
Non-Technical
· ITIL Ver3.0 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management is desirable
· Experience in the implementation of Solutions to Operations and Projects
· Analytical and insightful mindset prepared to challenge opinions and approaches to establish suitable solutions
· Excellent analytical, problem solving & communication skills
· Service oriented, ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
· Organised with good attention to detail
· Experience within Banking or Finance related business and experience working with large distributed systems strongly recommended
· Strong communication skills and Dynamic / flexible team player
· Required to work in shifts on a rotational basis.
· Natural inclination to share knowledge and disseminate information throughout all project phases with particular attention to handover education
· A “Can Do” attitude and a high level of commitment to customer service
· Ability to re-prioritise and organise rapidly to respond to changing business requirements
· Awareness of the impact of change to the business environment, and to support teams
· Ability to communicate technical issues in non-technical terms to business people
· Happy to work at Fidelity sites across the UK and/or India
· Good problem solving, documentation and presentation skills
· To take part in weekly cover rota, including out of hours “on call” support, as required
