Roles & Responsibilities

The role is to join as a Member of the GIS Databases team which supports all our internal database systems running with SQL Server and Oracle databases. The role’s main priority will be to participate in a 24x7 rota for the DBA team to perform monitoring, deal with incidents, requests, proactive checks and BAU support for our database environments.

• Proactively monitor and maintain SQLServer and Oracle DB systems
• Perform daily checks on the systems using agreed templates
• Diagnose the database system health regularly and troubleshoot any issues.
• Perform incidents and request management for Database support queue
• Work on requests from application teams
• Perform suitable action for alerts raised by Enterprise Monitoring tool
• Support all production, development & test environments

The ideal candidate will be fast to learn our topology, have excellent communication skills both face to face and on the telephone. Effective and accurate documentation, with real-time updates to the various ticketing systems and projects tools is essential.

Key Requirements

• SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019
• Oracle 12c and 19c running on Windows Platforms
• SSAS, SSRS, SSIS
• Knowledge on SQL Server and Oracle toolsets
• Good T-SQL and SQL knowledge
• Experience of working within a controlled ITIL process environment
• Excellent diagnostics, analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Motivated team player with good communication skills

• Desirable:
• Microsoft and Oracle Certifications
• ITIL Foundation or at minimum awareness
• Understanding of Server Hardware and storage
