Project Engineer, Networking & Workplace

About the role
The Project Engineer is responsible for leading project and program technical efforts, to ensure delivery of high-quality and consistent customer outcomes. The Project Engineer is developing and implementing strategies and standards, while providing guidance and leadership to project and program teams, managing stakeholders, and coordinating with various service channels. Providing technical governance and continuously evaluating all aspects of project and program delivery to ensure success.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Responsible for overseeing the technical quality of outcome delivered to the customer.
  • Coordinate with all other delivery workstreams within account.
  • Serves as first escalation point for a project.
  • Interface with Computacenter PMO, Sales, Solution Sales, Consultancy, Integration Center, and onsite teams associated with a project.
  • Lead and engage with Consultancy SMEs as needed per project. 
  • Interface with customer key technical stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the project/program.
  • Accountable for customer signoff at technical closure. 
  • Create technical documents required in each phase of the project – example Site Survey / Rack Design Documents and Technical Workbooks.   
  • Review/approve internal technical documents. 
  • Deliver technical documentation to internal teams/Integration Center. 
  • Review/train technical requirements within internal teams. 
  • Engage in First Article Builds / Proof of Concepts.
  • Technical escalation point of contact from internal teams – Integration Center / Field Engineering / Consulting Team/ Low Voltage. 
  • Provide vetting and oversight of onsite resources to ensure appropriate skillsets are leveraged to meet Computacenter’s implementation standards.
  • Provide technical support & guidance to onsite resources.
  • Responsible for Project Engineer performance appraisals. 
  • Provide input for Statement of Work (SOW)/Level of Effort (LOE) for new and existing opportunities.

What you have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in installing, configuring, enhancing and/or maintaining enterprise environments.
  • Expereince with large workplace deployments.
  • Relevant industry certifications (BICSI, CCNA, JNCIA) are preferred.
  • Experience in datacenter solutions and holding associated certifications is a plus.
  • Experience in LV or AV solutions and holding associated certifications is a plus.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present in a group setting.
  • Professional self-starter, able to work collaboratively with others.
  • Expertise in the latest technologies for their practice, and the ability to communicate these different technologies in layman’s terms.
  • Highly organized and understanding of project implementation timelines & processes.
  • Competent to advanced skills with MS Excel & MS Visio.
  • Possessing sense of urgency with strong organizational and follow up skills.
