Implementation Specialist
About the role
The Implementation Specialist (IS) serves as a critical subject matter expert and field leader for the Low Voltage (LV) team at various project site locations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the technical quality, process compliance, and successful execution of low voltage infrastructure projects. The IS plays a dual role depending on the complexity and scope of the engagement—either working onsite as a project lead for complex or large-scale deployments, or providing remote quality assurance and support for smaller installations.
The IS is involved in all phases of a project, from initial planning and design through to execution and final closeout. Their direct involvement ensures high standards of quality, safety, and operational consistency across the board. They act as the technical backbone of project execution, ensuring vendor reliability, process adherence, and successful delivery aligned with client and organizational expectations.
What you'll be doing
Project Lifecycle Management:
Design Phase:
- Perform and review low voltage site surveys to verify existing conditions and ensure the accuracy of documentation.
- Identify potential risks or anomalies during site evaluations and communicate them proactively to the Project Engineer (PE).
- Collaborate with engineering and planning teams to ensure survey results align with the proposed project scope.
Planning Phase:
- Review and validate Bill of Materials (BOM) for accuracy and sufficiency, ensuring alignment with site conditions and project scope.
- Assist the PE in defining site-specific deliverables and timelines.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings with customers and vendors, offering technical insight and clarifying field implementation expectations.
- Aid in the creation of site-specific Methods of Procedure (MOPs) to guide successful execution and future repeatability.
Implementation Phase:
- Serve as the onsite technical lead for large or complex project installations, directing field teams and vendors in alignment with project plans.
- Update project status in Fieldwire or equivalent project management tools regularly to maintain visibility and track progress.
- Sign off on vendor work orders and inspect work in progress to verify quality standards and compliance with installation best practices.
- Review vendor workmanship and ensure adherence to project standards, safety regulations, and scope of work.
- Vet strategic vendor partners onsite to assess their capabilities and determine suitability for future collaboration.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and submit Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reports to ensure a safe working environment.
Closeout Phase:
- Collect, review, and submit all final project deliverables for internal PE review.
- Submit detailed Vendor Quality Control Reports evaluating performance, reliability, and overall quality of work delivered.
- Ensure all punch list items are addressed and resolved before final project handoff.
Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work closely with Project Engineers, Program Managers, and third-party vendors to align execution strategies with overall project goals.
- During new engagements, collaborate with the PE to document and optimize operational processes, contributing to the development of future MOPs.
- Act as a mentor and resource for field technicians, providing guidance, training, and troubleshooting support as needed.
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement on every project site.
Documentation & Quality Assurance:
- Maintain comprehensive records of all field activities including site survey documentation, installation checklists, vendor evaluations, and safety compliance logs.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely fashion for internal use and project closeout.
- Support audits and post-project evaluations by providing detailed insights and data from the field.
Vendor & Partner Management:
- Lead vendor onboarding efforts by working onsite to assess the quality of assigned vendor resources.
- Evaluate vendor leads for competency, professionalism, and alignment with project expectations.
- Provide feedback to internal stakeholders regarding vendor strengths, areas for improvement, and recommendations for future engagements.
